The Torpado Kenda FSA team showcased their strength in the competition that tests all limits. Over the course of the 8-day race, the three pairs entered in the ABSA Cape Epic raced as protagonists in every single stage, facing scorching heat, dusty trails, and muddy, unstable conditions. The Cape Epic presented the harshest terrains and the most intense dynamics.

Cape Epic 2025 is a long story to tell, full of twists and surprises that made the journey more challenging, yet no less thrilling.

The Torpado Kenda FSA team arrived at the race and ended each stage as the most prominent UCI team in terms of presence and consistency. Over the eight days of racing, the two male pairs and the female pair achieved an incredible total of 18 top 10 finishes, including 9 top 5s, in the most competitive field in the world, where every pair represents a threat. In 2025, the Cape Epic brought together the world’s strongest mountain bike athletes, who competed on the trails of Stellenbosch, Paarl, and Lourensford.

Cape Epic is an exhilarating daily challenge in constant pursuit of perfection, risk, and balance. Katazina Sosna, after a year’s break, made her comeback in fine form, consistently leading the women’s race and delivering solid performances. Her Cape Epic highlighted the tremendous work of an experienced and authoritative athlete, who, in the final stage, made a remarkable attempt at victory with an incredible podium finish. After leading the stage all day, only one pair managed to surpass her and her mixed-gender teammate. Katazina’s partner for this adventure, Claudia Peretti, was indispensable over the 8 days, proving to be a formidable collaborator in the toughest climbs. Katazina had promised a great return at the beginning of this season, and she has already achieved results in this Cape Epic that she had not yet reached in her career.

Jakob Dorigoni and Gioele De Cosmo were among the youngest protagonists ever but showed great character, determination, and synergy. The pair, winners of 2 stages at the Andalusia Bike Race and now 1st following Casey South’s early withdrawal, played a starring role in the competition. Some of the quickest and most tactical athletes in the group, they demonstrated how cohesion within a team can amplify the qualities of each rider. A standout performance in stage 5 allowed them to secure a position in the grand finale, where they stayed at the front with leaders Schurter and Colombo. A mechanical failure relegated them to a backup position, but they managed to finish 6th overall.

Italian champion Fabian Rabensteiner had one of the toughest Cape Epics of the group. He battled through to stage 5, still feeling the aftermath of a heavy fall that compromised his entire performance in the toughest of competitions, where being at 100% is crucial. The Italian champion put all his experience and talent into every pedal stroke, every single approach. For Fabian, the Cape Epic ended prematurely, but with the knowledge that he is prepared for any scenario, having climbed to 4th in the overall standings before the accident.

In a race like the Cape Epic, the team support and equipment play an essential role. The mechanics team worked tirelessly to keep the equipment in perfect condition, and the Torpado Renero X bikes supported the athletes with reliability and performance. The 4 athletes in the race were able to perform to their full potential, demonstrating the strength and determination of one of the most consistent and powerful teams in the world of MTB.

The team will return more energetic than ever in upcoming races, determined to maintain their lead and aim for further success.
